Ocean House 1303

Ocean House #1303 is an interior gulf-front 2 bedroom 2 bath condominium located on the 3rd floor in building I overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. The unit is approximately 1000 sq ft with views of the gulf from the living room and gulf-side master bedroom. The condo has a fully equipped kitchen with a washer and dryer. There are 2 full baths with either a tub/shower combo or a stand-alone shower. The gulf-side master bathroom is accessed via the bedroom and hallway. The street-side bedroom has an attached bathroom with a stand-up shower.

Ocean House I and II are 9-story buildings with 6 units per floor located 1 mile West of Highway 59 in Gulf Shores. Ocean House has a large seasonal zero-entry outdoor pool and a small kiddie pool. The property also has a grilling area that services both buildings I and II.
Minimum age required: 23.
Queen, Twin, Twin, Sofa sleeper. Sleeps 6.

Parking passes are purchased on-site at Ocean House at the guard house or office located in building I - CASH ONLY. There is a maximum of 2 parking passes per unit and the cost is set by the association and is subject to change at any time without notice.


Review: Great place to stay on the beach! The condo was very cute and clean. The A/C worked like a charm and we had no problems with the condo. Check-in was easy and the staff was super friendly. We had a problem with one of the tv remotes and they fixed it very promptly. I had to have a package delivered while staying there and they made that easy as well. The views are amazing the beach is literally out the back door and restaurants were within walking distance. The building was family-friendly and quiet at night. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and talked about how soon we could go back the entire way home. 5 stars.

Review: The beach access was great. The staff was all friendly. Anything you needed was in a 5-mile bubble. The condo was good.

Review 5 stars. Beautiful condo. Fantastic view. Awesome pool. The minor a/c issue was repaired very quickly. We will be back.

  All things considered, we had a great vacation. The management company was awesome. Easy check-in and check-out processes. Will use them again for sure. We are a family of 6 (2 adults, 1 teen, 3 7-year-olds) and stayed 5/28 to 6/3.
  
  Pros:
  The location was perfect. The room has a great view and being on the third floor was convenient as you can use the elevator or stairs. Room was clean when we arrived. It was quiet for the most part. Had some partiers on the beach but that couldn't be helped. The complex was nice and the staff were great. Security patrolled the grounds regularly. Our kids loved the pool. The pool was cleaned every morning. The room was average. Suited our needs just fine.
  
  Cons:
  The room was dated and in need of a few upgrades. It is a keyed front door so you have to keep up with a key the whole time. The door is also hard to open and close. We had kids sleeping in the room beside the door and it was hard to open it without waking them up in the mornings to go setup on the beach. There was a smell in the room but not enough to worry about. Washer and dryer was small, especially if you have more than 2 people. We were washing clothes late into the night. The lights in the room need to be brighter. The tub drain in the master bath was really slow. I reported it when we left so maybe it got fixed. The wifi was spotty and really slow. Didn't really affect us any. We just used our data plan on our phones but if you have to work, you'll be out of luck. Bring $30 cash for parking since you have to pay onsite. Only had 1 elevator but it was pretty fast, I have to admit. It wasn't really a problem.
  
  Be aware that during our stay there was a "no canopy/tent" rule on the beach. Was told this was a Gulf Shores rule and not a complex rule due to the eroding shore but we saw other canopies down the beach. You can use umbrellas though.
  
  Like I said, not a bad stay. Will use the management company again but will find a differ

  This vacation was for me, my son (12) and my mom! We drove 11 hours to get there and from the minute we arrived in Gulf Shores we were nothing but pleased! The check in process was seamless. The condo was easy to find, easy to access, and exactly like the pictures! It was beautiful, roomy, and everything we had hope for on our vacation! The view of the beach was OUTSTANDING! I loved the way you communicate with the staff by text with any questions or needs. This experience was far above my expectations! We will be back 100%! Thanks for the amazing memories! (Only downfall was having to pay $30 for paying cash only, I didn’t have cash and had to go get some from an atm wish that would have been included in the price of the rental)

  The condo itself was very nice two bedroom two bath balcony facing the Gulf. However, there was a pungent horrible smell of mildew/mold to the condo. I did alert the management regarding this. they came into the condo without us being there and without notifying us they were coming seemed as if they may have sprayed Febreze fruit sent is what it smelled like when we got back. This lasted maybe 6 hours and the terrible smell returned. We then went out and purchased 45$ worth of Febreze arm and hammer, air fresheners etc., just so we could stay until the end of our contract. Stayed out of the condo as much as possible. They need to rip the carpet up get rid of the furniture and the curtains. I had to rewash all our clothes when we returned home. I have a picture of some Looks like mold on a bathroom closet door I cleaned off. Sorry I would not recommend any one stay here until they remove the carpet, curtains, and furniture.

  My wife, daughter (late teens), and I enjoyed the Ocean House condo and rest of what the Gulf Shores has to offer. Condo was good size, clean, and balcony provided nice place to relax right on the ocean. Kitchen had everything we needed, store was walking distance, and good selection of restaurants nearby. It wasn't crazy crowded and enough room on the beach to fish and / or swim.

  We enjoyed our stay here as we have been to the Ocean House condos before. It is a great location and nice beaches. We were a bit disappointed by the single roll of paper towels and single roll of cheap toilet paper per bathroom on a 5 day trip for a condo that sleeps 6. But otherwise a clean & nice stay. Please also note that you have to pick up keys off property, this was a bit of an inconvenience as we were already on-site when we discovered this without a car.

  Stayed at Ocean house 1303. Your parking pass is not included in your stay. That was $30 more. Security require you to wear a "band" around your wrist, We did not due the size as it doesn't fit out kids wrist. Our first impression of the condo itself was "musty". Noticed significant signs of mold as the days went on. We all became sick while saying in this unit. We were glad it was only 3 nights to bridge us while we had our other condo open which was in another complex. We had a great experience with Gulf Shores Rental and will do business again but this unit needs attention. Also, ocean house staff sit in lower level garage as there "office". They smoke cigarettes like a chimney and its tough to sit at the pool and smell that all day.

  Wedding anniversary get away for the wife and I. Have stayed in this very condo several times now. Always clean. Cleaning solution is very strong smelling, quite bothersome. Thermostat must be controlled by owner, was changing settings frequently, to a setting which made sleeping a bit uncomfortable. Too warm. Weather during our stay was perfect. Cool and not humid. But we like to sleep with temp lower then most (around 68). Wife is having hot flashes, thus inside temp is critical. Other then the thermostat, great stay. Electrical plugs in bathrooms need to be flipped to allow hair dryers to be plugged in correctly.

  I was working from home while we were there, the internet service was unreliable. One time it went out for four hours, I lost 4 hours pay that day. Do not recommend if you are looking for good reliable internet service. The property is in a great location for walks on the beach for sunrise and sunset. Close to other good biking and walking routes also. The pool is nice for lounging by when he sun is warm.

  Loved the location and the area. Lots of great restaurants and the beach was wonderful. Only thing I would suggest is better lighting in the unit, especially the bathrooms. When we got there we noticed signs posted that we must have orange bands on but our rental co didn’t provide them or any info. When I asked, I got a rude response and was told to go to the office but no one was ever in the office. We asked other guests and found out where to get them but would’ve been nice if they just gave us the info. Also, remotes needed batteries and one never would work. I reached out to company and never got a response.

Unfortunately, the homeowners association at the Ocean House complex will not allow property managers to distribute the required arm bands; they only allow the onsite security to do so. We also have maintenance who can be dispatched to address batteries for remotes and replace light bulbs so we apologize if you reported these issues and they were not addressed; we will do better.

  The unit itself was just as pictured on the website. Listing did not specify and there were no pictures of laundry - but there IS a stacking unit in the kitchen closet. We are a family of 4 (2 teens) and the unit "fit." Might have felt a little crowded with 6, using the bedding in the fold-out sofa. The building is well maintained, pool beautiful with chaises and chairs strategically placed for good distancing during COVID. All communications with Gulf Shores Rentals were easy and seamless. Would recommend Ocean House, and would definitely rent through GSR again.

  We really enjoyed the location and we loved the condo! They decorated it really cute and we really enjoyed it! We will definitely stay again. I did not like the fact that I paid a cleaning fee and they asked that we vacuum and do all this other stuff. If I paid a cleaning fee why am I having to clean everything??? The boardwalk to the beach was also the worst I have ever seen. There were nails sticking out of the boards and instead of replacing boards they just placed more boards on top of the others and made it very unsafe for the guest staying there. My daughter (4 years old) tripped and smacked her face bc of the boards sticking up.
